Arsenal manager worked with both players at Manchester City
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta commented on the transition of the Ukrainian defender Alexandra Zinchenko last summer.
“Why did I sign so many Manchester City players? Easy, because they are very high quality. I know them because I worked with them for four years. I invited Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus not only for their football talent, but also for their human qualities.”
The Ukrainian defender moved to Arsenal last July, signing a contract until 2026. During the season, Zinchenko made 33 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Arsenal finished second in the last Premier League. In the new season, Zinchenko’s team starts on August 12 with a duel with Nottingham Forest.
