The winner of the fight will be declared the mandatory challenger for the WBC title.
Former Unified World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz announced that he was going to fight the former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
“We are preparing. Guys, make sure you watch this. Great things are coming. Wilder, here we go, man. We are just negotiating,” Ruiz said.
Earlier, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman said that his organization is preparing an eliminator fight between two former world champions Wilder and Ruiz. The winner will be declared the mandatory challenger for the WBC title held by Tyson Fury.
Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott said that Andy Ruiz is the priority opponent for the American’s next fight. Deontey also wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk, claiming that the Ukrainian is afraid to enter the ring against him and deliberately refuses to fight.
In his last fight, Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz via unanimous decision. At the same time, Andy knocked down the opponent three times. After the fight, Ruiz challenged Deontay Wilder.
