Deontay claims the hitches are due to Andres Ruiz, Andy’s father
Former World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder called on former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz sign a contract for a joint fight. Deontay believes that the delay in negotiations is due to the fault of the father of the boxer, Andres Ruiz,
“We have offered you a lot of money and I think you should accept it. I don’t want you to let others dictate your career at this point in time bro. You only have limited time to earn as much money as possible.”
“Don’t let others interfere with this, you make the decision. It would be unfair to you or your children to skip those zeros if you let others interfere. Think about it bro. Let’s do it, sign it, seal it and execute it. I’m fed up waiting, let’s give people what they ask for and want. That’s enough, the ball is on your side.”
“Be a man, make your own decisions and don’t let your dad ruin your last few years. Remember, before it’s too late, you’ll be sorry if your father lectures you on how you should have saved your money.”
Ruiz confirmed his desire to fight Wilder. Andy stated that his team is negotiating with representatives of Deontay.
Earlier, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman said that his organization is preparing an eliminator fight between two former world champions Wilder and Ruiz. The winner will be declared the mandatory challenger for the WBC title held by Tyson Fury.
In his last fight, Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz via unanimous decision. At the same time, Andy knocked down the opponent three times. After the fight, Ruiz challenged Wilder.
Deontay defeated Finn Robert Helenius by knockout in the first round in his last fight in October.
