President of the Kyiv club – about the children’s teams of white and blue
President of Dynamo Igor Surkis, in an interview with Roman Bebekh for the Bombardir YouTube channel, told how the white-and-blue children’s teams, which they managed to bring abroad, function now. Now almost all the children’s teams of the capital’s club are outside Ukraine.
“We wanted to include teams of 16-17-year-olds in the Hungarian Championship, out of competition. We did not succeed, but we were given the opportunity to play friendly matches with peers from different countries. We incur certain expenses – for travel, for food, but this is nothing compared to the fact that if we want to revive Ukrainian football, then this is our future. I don’t doubt our victory [в войне], sooner or later we will have peace, and peaceful life will be restored, including in football. I think that in this area I can help the most, so I do it every day. We also send money to the guys on cards so that they can go to some cafes and drink coffee, and not just get food in the places where they were accepted. We are very careful about our future, — said Surkis.
“Children are not on professional contracts, and if their parents have moved, they can continue their careers at any club. But I am grateful to my parents, they are real patriots. So far, there has not been a single case of someone wanting to pick up their child and send it to another club. I understand that there may be some losses associated with the lives of certain families, but we have already managed to do a lot. If someone had said at the beginning that it would work, I would not have believed it.
We have almost all the guys who are at school on contracts. We consider them all talented, but there are super talented ones. And this is not just a contract from which they receive nothing. They receive a certain salary, which is no less than the minimum wage of ordinary Ukrainians.”
Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia continues for the 114th day.
