Sports directorOrenburg Dmitry Andreev told that the club would only be happy if the appointment of a Serb Milorada Majic for the post of head of the refereeing department of the Russian Football Union (RFU) will have a positive impact on the quality of refereeing.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Mažić had become the head of the RFU’s refereeing department. The Serb replaced Pavel Kamantsev, who will continue to work as chairman of the refereeing committee. The contract with Majic, 50, was signed for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.
– It seems to me that the refereeing is more or less the same from one season to another, no cardinal changes have taken place under any leader. The usual work continues: there are good times, and not so good. I can say that there was a response to all our complaints. Everything submitted has been reviewed and returned with a response.
Kamantsev came to a few of our games, we had good communication. I can’t say anything bad about him, that some kind of disgrace was happening. It is clear that when a well-known referee is in charge, he has some experience. But this does not mean that the work will be perfectly constructed. I doubt anything here depends on the leader’s authority and kind of background. If the arrival of Mazhic leads to an improvement in the refereeing, we will only be satisfied,” Andreev told a correspondent.
Majic is a former soccer referee. He appeared in two World Cups, the 2016 UEFA Super Cup, the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup final and refereed the 2018 Champions League final.
