PFL President Kadenko: Confirmed 16 teams each in the First and Second Leagues

The season can start at the end of August or in September

The president PFL Alexander Kadenko shared his thoughts on the new season in First and Second leagues. The functionary noted that 16 clubs should start in the championships.

“Today we have prepared competition formats for the clubs of the First and Second Leagues. Today they will be sent to everyone. On Monday, we are planning a meeting with the clubs of the First and Second Leagues, and we will decide on the format of the competition. Three options have been prepared. 16 teams have been confirmed in the First and Second Leagues. Everyone understands that the economic situation will worsen, and the clubs will proceed from how financially more profitable it will be for them to participate in the competition,” Kadenko said.

“Today we have two full-fledged leagues: the First and the Second – 16 teams in each. Every day the situation may change, but if there are cardinal changes, we will gather and make appropriate decisions. We are considering two options: the end of August or the beginning of September.”

Earlier, the PFL announced that it would ease the requirements for professional certification for clubs for the next season. Also, the PFL announced that some clubs will not be able to play in the next competition.

The 2021/22 season in Ukrainian football was completed ahead of schedule due to the full-scale Russian invasion of the country, which continues for the 115th day.
