Mudrik’s move to Chelsea forced UEFA to introduce a new restriction

The organization introduced the “Enzo-Mudrik rule” – limiting the amortization of transfers.

The UEFA Executive Committee decided to limit depreciation to five years to ensure equal treatment of all clubs and improve financial sustainability. This was reported by the organization’s official website.

So the union responded to the complaints of many clubs about the actions of London Chelsea. Recall that under Bowley, the Blues began to conclude long-term contracts with players, which improved the club’s budget in terms of fair play.

More precisely, the situation concerns two specific examples – the transfers of Mikhail Mudrik and Enzo Fernandez, for which large sums were paid.

These transfers became possible thanks to depreciation – the ability to transfer the cost of transfer and salary in equal parts in the financial statements for the entire duration of the contract.

Now clubs can still sign players for more than five years, but the value of the contract can be amortized over just five years. The same applies to extension transactions.

The changes will take effect on July 1, but will not affect contracts already signed.

We will remind you, it was recently known that Chelsea sold their striker Kai Havertz to Arsenal.
