Italian in Norway. Tuscan Alessio Del Sarto For three months he has been scouting for the Norwegian Elite Series Haugesund: the football adventure starts in London, then in Florence, and has been working in Norway as chief scout for over three months now. Exclusively with Tuttomercatoweb.com talks about his new adventure. “After working in London for five years from twenty-two to twenty-seven years, many relationships began in football, in the football capital. Then I moved to Fiorentina and my international experience increased as an international first team scout. The adventure is over, the opportunity has come, the Norwegian league is growing and with my arrival the owners want to give the club a different strategy.”
What company did you find?
“I did not think that I would find such a level of professionalism, as in those who work in other departments, and in sports, and in coaching. The work culture is different, it is Nordic. It’s not fair to compare, but it’s a culture from which I can learn and grow, and vice versa, I can bring my work tape.”
Let’s talk about the level of Norwegian football
“In the top teams in the league, thanks to what they get as income in Europe, they will come closer and closer to Belgium and the Netherlands as targets. It’s always getting better, no doubt thanks to what Bodo/Glimt have done in recent years: image and TV rights, they work well and are reinvested in structures and players. This allows the championship to improve more and more. In 2016, as a league, it was sold for 16 million euros, in the last window we are approaching 80 million in total.”
A freer market thanks to rules
“Regulations in Norway allow you to take 9 foreigners with no restrictions on non-EU citizens. I have no restrictions other than quantitative: there are no differences in passport and continent. The only thought I have to have is to find slots between nine and there is something fundamental to my job. A Dane on the rosters has the same importance as an Asian or Ivorian player. This could allow us to work in the round, be a practice league and have ability to sell: we create players for the most important leagues. This is the project.”
