The now-retired Welsh footballer has opened up about who his Real Madrid team-mate was. He gave hitherto unknown details about the Portuguese star.
Gareth Bale surprised with his statements. The former Real Madrid player referred to Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he shared a locker room in the merengue squad. In an interview at golfer Martin Borgmeier, which took place during the BMW International Open Pro-Am, the former striker made an incredible confession about CR7.
“He had his moments. For example, if we won 5-0 and he didn’t score, he would come to the locker room and throw his boots on the ground. Angry “said the player who left football at 33. And to impress on golf fans what his partner was like, he added, “It’s like you win the Ryder Cup and you walk away mad because you didn’t score a point.”
Of course, Bale made it clear that – despite many fearing him – Cristiano is a good teammate. “He was a good guy. There was nothing wrong with him. I really didn’t have a problem. He’s a good guy… A lot of people were scared of him, but if you’re not scared of him, you’re fine,” he said.
And then he joked with the airs of divo that we always attribute to the now Al-Nassr striker and told what happened in the intimacy of Madrid when Ronaldo received the multiple Ballon d’Or that he won. “I think so. I think he thanked the team for winning them,” he said wryly. But he immediately approached the camera, smiled and condemned: “Yeah, he did. THANKS.”
Bale retired from professional football earlier this year when he was a member of Los Angeles FC, and in the same interview he said: “I enjoyed my time at Tottenham more because everyone talks English. But if we talk about football, I really liked being at Real Madrid”.
