Goalie David De Gea became a free agent on July 1. Manchester United did not renew the contract with the Spanish footballer.
Earlier it was reported that Manchester United offered the Spaniard a new contract with a significantly reduced salary, the player agreed to these terms, but before signing the contract, the club changed the terms of the agreement and proposed to cut wages even further.
De Gea, 32, was named the best goalkeeper of the Premier League last season.
Last season he made 58 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions, conceding 61 goals and leaving his net intact in 25 appearances.
