Thomazella projects Portuguesa’s challenge at the opening of the Copa Paulista

Goalkeeper Thomazella, from Portuguesa, commented on the team’s preparation for the debut of the Copa Paulista and revealed reasons for staying at the São Paulo club

A Portuguese back on the pitch next Saturday, July 1st, for the opening of the 2023 Copa Paulista. After a long period without official matches, Lusa faces the Saint Andrew, in Canindé. Highlight of the cast that guaranteed the permanence in the A1 of Paulistão, the goalkeeper Thomazella designed the team in the competition.

“It was a long period without official games, which is greatly missed by all of us, as we miss being on the field, playing, feeling the warmth of the fans. We are looking forward to being able to play. It’s the beginning of a very important competition for Portuguesa, and that was one of the reasons that made me stay, because I know the importance of the Copa Paulista for the club, the importance of having a bigger calendar next year, a national competition and we’re going to looking for it” said through his press office.

In preparation for the competition, Portuguesa played some friendlies against traditional teams, including Corinthians and Red Bull Bragantino. Thomazella believes that the team is well prepared for the debut.

“We are making a very strong preparation, not only for the debut, but for the entire competition. We played some friendlies against strong teams and arrived well prepared. Our group is very focused, we have been working all week aiming at this game against Santo André and we hope to start the competition in the best possible way, with a victory in front of our fans”, concluded.

Portuguesa and Santo André face each other this Saturday, 1st, at 3 pm (Brasília time), in Canindé. The teams compete in the Copa Paulista in Group 3, which still has São Bernardo, Portuguesa Santista, São Caetano and São José.
