2027 World Cup
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva also commented on the country’s dispute to host the 2027 Women’s Cup. He defended that it will not be necessary to build new arenas to hold the World Cup in Brazil.
“It was a World Cup in a very negative climate. Everything was said that there was corruption in the stadiums, everything. And there was no evidence of corruption in any stadium”, he said.
“In 2014, I was frustrated, because we managed to bring the World Cup here in Brazil. 2013 was hell in this country, and the World Cup was trivialized, because not even the sponsors advertised the World Cup properly. It’s been 10 years since the World Cup and in no stadium has corruption been proven. But the allegations happened.” added the president.
