The coach is pleased with reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2023
Head coach youth team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan commented on the victory over the French team (3:1) in the quarter-finals of Euro 2023. The coach thanked the players of his team.
“First of all, we congratulate Ukraine on the victory, we congratulate our defenders, we thank them! I congratulate the team that had a fantastic match, showed that we really are a team, we strive for more. If we go back years, when we just got together, especially after the first qualifying match against France, we could not imagine that in two matches we would beat this team. I want to congratulate the players on a wonderful game, on the victory, and the most important thing for me is that they became the best of the best in this match.”
“We understood that France would defend very compactly, that they would block the center as much as possible. We focused on this, as well as playing with a false nine to pull off very high defenders. Our high-speed wingers should have run into these zones. But I am very pleased that in a situation where Mudryk and Sudakov switched places, Georgy took this role upon himself and broke into the space that Kryskiw created for him with his discovery. We must definitely take this match into our asset.”
“I would like to mention the French team. This is a very powerful team, a good team, individually strong. I am pleased that our guys reacted to the result with both individual skill and character, did not become limp, but quickly returned to the game, ”Rotan said.
In the semi-finals of Euro 2023, the Ukrainian U-21 team will play against Spain. Recall that the teams have already met at the group stage of the tournament and tied 2:2. The match will take place on July 5 at 22:00 Kyiv time.
In another semi-final match on July 5, the teams of England and Israel will play. The game will start at 19:00. The Euro 2023 final is scheduled for July 8.
In addition to reaching the semi-finals of the European Championship, the victory over the French team allowed the Ukrainian team to break through to the 2024 Olympic Games.
