Girardi returns to the Parma case: “The accusations are groundless, my conscience is clear”

Former President of Parma Thomas Ghirardi he returned to the Parma affair. Girardi said he has been marked by the unfounded allegations that have been leveled against him and that is the reason he does not evaluate the acquisition of Brescia. Here are his words to BresciaToday:

On the acquisition of Brescia: “I am honored that my name is associated with Brescia. And that many people, including institutions and entrepreneurs, asked me to return. I want to be absolutely honest: I have to respect the fans and, above all, Cellino. At the moment I’m not interested in returning to football. I never wanted to talk about this story, but I was very hurt by what happened in Parma. I don’t want to sound presumptuous, but this world no longer belongs to me. Certain events have marked me on a personal and family level. For this I am absolutely not ready to consider returning to football.”

Detachment from the world of football and the desire for redemption: “I don’t deny that I want redemption to show what I have always shown in football. An event like the one in Parma could not erase my good deeds. I have many friends in football, many people who love and respect me, but there are also people who do not like me at all. I’m still too scared of the allegations that have been leveled against me. As a result, almost all of them turned out to be unfounded, the rest will be soon. I know what I did and, above all, I know what happened in football in the following years. I have a clear conscience. But I am proud of the respect and affection of those who are trying to persuade me to return to football in my city. I would be proud. But for now, I say no. I still have no incentive to start over in this world.”
