Odessa Medical Center suspended the treatment of the military: what is the reason

Immediately after the shelling, the clinic opened special accounts to receive donations.

Odessa Ophthalmological Center has suspended work due to a missile strike. Odessa Ophthalmological Center “Tarus”, which for 25 years provided medical services to residents of the city, received significant damage as a result of rocket attacks. However, the clinic has already found a new location and hopes to return to its work within 1.5-2 months. Ruslan Shchipun, Director of the Center for Laser Vision Correction “Tarus”, told about this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odessa.

“It was the first private ophthalmological clinic where we performed many unique surgeries using the most modern equipment. In 1998, we performed the first vision correction surgery. We started working together with the Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases, together with them we mastered the treatment of corneal dystrophy, ”said Sergey Shchipun, co-founder, chief physician of the Tarus Laser Vision Center, Candidate of Medical Sciences, member of the European Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons ESCRS.

Ruslan Shchipun explained that because of this, about 300 patients, including about 20 military, are now waiting for the necessary treatment.

“We have been working with the ophthalmological department of the military hospital in Odessa for a long time, we have performed many free surgeries. After the start of a full-scale invasion, glasses and contact lenses were distributed free of charge to the army employees, for several days our warehouses were empty, ”he said.

According to Ruslan Shchipun, immediately after the shelling, the clinic opened special accounts to receive donations. Currently, as of June 22, about 230 thousand hryvnias have been collected.

“This is a very large amount, and it is important that many people responded, because most of the donations were 50-100 hryvnias. And the money was transferred not only by residents of Odessa, many sent help from Kyiv, Chernivtsi, other cities, even from other countries. And we are grateful to everyone for their help,” the doctor added.
