The legendary goalkeeper may play a farewell match against Tottenham
Donetsk goalkeeper Miner Andriy Pyatov decided to end his playing career.
According to the general director of the club, Sergei Palkin, the 39-year-old goalkeeper was offered to play a farewell match. That game could be a charity match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 6 August at the Spurs’ home stadium in London.
In addition, the leadership of the Donetsk club offered Pyatov to become a goalkeeping coach in the staff of Patrick van Leeuwen, who officially became the Pitmen’s new mentor. Earlier, the ex-goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team received a UEFA B coaching diploma.
Pyatov has been playing at Shakhtar since 2007 and has played 482 matches for the team. The goalkeeper’s contract with the Pitmen ended on June 30. Last season, the goalkeeper played only two matches for the team.
The Donetsk club became the champion of Ukraine in the 2022/23 season. The Pitmen got into the third basket of the draw for the next Champions League group stage.
