“The big mystery is why Alexander Mostovoy didn’t become a coach” – Paulo Barbosa

soccer agent Paul Barbosa told Metaratings.ru that the former Russian national team footballer Alexander Mostovoi could be a good trainer.

In May, Mostovoy applied for training under the special A‑UEFA+B‑UEFA program at the Russian Football Union (RFU) academy.

— You worked with Alexander Mostov. He was a brilliant player, now he’s an expert. Why do you think he didn’t become a coach and with his experience he would have succeeded?

I would say it’s a big mystery. I think Alexandre could become a coach, but if he isn’t yet, there must be objective reasons for that. Of course, Mostovoy is experienced, he worked with good coaches and could become a good coach himself.

– Alexander is convinced that only a person who has played football at a professional level can become a good coach. Do you agree with him?

– Practice shows that without football experience one can become a coach, but, of course, a coach who has played football at a high level has certain advantages. It’s a fact, but that doesn’t mean that a manager who has never played football can’t become a great manager. Life shows it too.

Mostovoy retired from football in 2005. As part of Spartak he twice became champion of the USSR.
