Azerbaijani football club player “Neftchi” Azer Aliyev told why at some point he decided to play for the Russian “Tambov” free.
On Saturday, Zenit beat Neftchi (3-1) in the first match of the international PARI Premier Cup tournament, which takes place in Saint Petersburg. Aliyev has been playing for a Baku team since 2022, previously the footballer played in Russia for Yenisei, Sakhalin, Krylya Sovetov, Ufa and Tambov.
– When I moved from Ufa to Tambov in the 2020/21 season, I immediately said that I didn’t need the money. None.
– Why did they do that?
– In Ufa, I had the following situation: there was no conflict with the head coach, but, apparently, we somehow did not go together with Rashid Rakhimov, and I left. The contract with another team miraculously failed. In general, I found myself without a club. And the season is about to start again. And then there was a variant with “Tambov”. I understood that this is a team that will probably no longer exist. But I went there, just to play, to go on the field, to train until the summer, and not for the money. I didn’t even think of them.
“And you really didn’t get a penny?”
“I didn’t even apply. But I repeat, initially I told the club – I just want to play, – Aliyev told .
