Athletistic/Football. Journalist Gennady Orlov pointed out that players cannot be considered stars just because they are successful in the Russian football league, using the example of Lokomotiv striker Artyom Dziuba.
Last season in the Russian Premier League, 34-year-old Dzyuba scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists in 11 matches.
“We should call our players talented and capable, and the stars are already the proven ones – like Fedor Cherenkov, Yura Gavrilov and Eduard Streltsov. Most players don’t deserve the title of talented.
We use these epithets too lightly. With us, every singer or footballer immediately becomes a star! But what is a star really? A star is a person who is the best, one of the best in his field in the world. Dzyuba is a Russian football star, but not in Europe! It’s really good for Russian football, but our football itself is not very good,” Orlov commented in an interview with Sport24.
