President Entella: “We want to start a new cycle by focusing on youth”

During the traditional end-of-season party dedicated to sponsors, the President of Virtus Entella Antonio Gozzi he illustrated the program lines of the new season: “For two years we have been chasing the dream of returning the club to Serie B, this is not an easy task, Serie C is a really difficult tournament. We must try to win the championship, the playoffs – this is such a Russian roulette. In the second round, we were the Italian pro team with the most points, but it wasn’t enough. This is football, you have to take decisions on the field, but also think about how to react. Losing a championship like this leaves a lot of waste, so we also quite boldly decided to reset and rediscover the cycle: football teams are like companies, they never stand still, they either grow or decline. This player cycle is over. Now we want to open a new and competitive one, for this we have to focus on the youth. Our exciting bet will be this. These guys will be joined by experienced players who will guide and support them. Growth and development begin with need; if there is no hunger, it is difficult to grow and develop. Young players are hungry and therefore have a sense of competition that is often better than that of older and more advanced players, which is a fundamental characteristic of Serie C. Let’s hope this is a good feeling, we will work with our usual commitment and dedication. We will start again with coach Gennaro Volpe, whom we have a lot of confidence in and we think that working with a team that has a lot of young players also opens up an important opportunity for him.”
