Fight Usyk – Dubois will be held on August 26 in Wroclaw
The fight between WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Briton Daniel Dubois has been officially announced. On August 26, in Wroclaw, at the Tarczynski Arena, boxers will fight for three belts belonging to a Ukrainian.
Both boxers have 20 fights in the professional ring. Usyk won all fights, Dubois lost one fight. For Usyk, the fight with Dubois is the second in his career in Poland. The Briton will hold only the third fight outside the UK.
Pilgrim Usyk
The Ukrainian out of 20 of his fights in professionals 12 – spent abroad. Alexander fought in Poland, USA, Germany, Latvia, Russia, England, Saudi Arabia. The last time a Ukrainian entered the ring in his native country almost eight years ago, in December 2015, he beat Julio Rodriguez ahead of schedule at the Sports Palace.
Homebody Dubois
The Briton is a home boxer. In six years of professional career and 20 fights in the professional ring, Daniel had only two fights outside the UK. Both are in the USA. Both finished ahead of schedule, defeating Trevor Bryan and Kevin Lehren. Dubois “received” his only defeat at home, losing to Joe Joyce.
Lucky Poland for Usyk
As mentioned above, Alexander has already fought in Poland. Moreover, it was this country that launched Usyk’s ascent to the top of professional boxing.
In September 2016, Alexander in Poland won his first champion title – the WBO belt, confidently defeating Krzysztof Glowacki on points. True, this fight took place in Gdansk.
Second fight at the stadium for Usyk and Dubois
But in open arenas, and even more so in large stadiums, Usyk and Dubois rarely fought. For each of the boxers, the fight at the Tarczynski Arena will be the second in their career at the football stadium.
It is noteworthy that earlier Usyk and Dubois tried out the features of boxing in the open air and with a huge number of spectators at the same stadium – the Tottenham Arena in London. Usyk has boxed there before, giving out a spectacular performance against Anthony Joshua in September 2021 and winning four belts. Dubois at the Spurs home stadium fought in his last fight – in December 2022, defeating Lerena.
