The coach made a mistake in his assessments about the talent of the Ukrainian
The current coach of the Greek national team and ex-footballer of Chelsea Gustavo Poyet disappointed with the performances of the Ukrainian midfielder Mikhail Mudrik in the London club.
“I made a mistake last season and I’m not afraid to say it. When Chelsea signed Mikhail Mudrik, I thought it was an incredible transfer. I thought, “Wow, what a fantastic player!”
“Then I remembered what happened to me and to many other foreign players when they first moved to England. We are all different, everyone needs a different amount of time to adapt to different football.”
“All legionnaires, all new players must be careful. I know what I’m talking about. We think we are strong, we say to ourselves: “Tomorrow I will be the best.” But football puts everything in its place.”
Mudrik moved to Chelsea in January and signed an eight and a half year contract. Chelsea and Shakhtar agreed to sign Mudrik for 100 million euros, and the Ukrainian’s salary is 7.5 million euros per year.
The midfielder has made 17 appearances for the Blues in all competitions. Mikhail has two assists.
The London club finished the Premier League season in 12th place and did not qualify for European competition. Mauricio Pochettino will be the head coach of the team in the new season.
