Legendary goalkeeper taken to hospital in Croatia
Legendary goalkeeper for Manchester United, Ajax and the Netherlands Edwin van der Sar suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Now the 52-year-old Dutchman is in the intensive care unit, his condition is stable.
Van der Sar was taken to one of the hospitals in the city of Split. In Croatia, the former goalkeeper was on vacation.
In early June, van der Sar stepped down as CEO of Ajax. He has been a member of the leadership of the Dutch Grand since 2012. Edwin started at the club as a marketing director. In 2016, the former goalkeeper became the CEO of Amsterdam.
During his career, van der Sar played for Ajax, Juventus, Fulham, Manchester United and amateur Noordwijk. Edwin has won the Champions League twice, in 1995 with Ajax and in 2008 with the Red Devils.
On Friday, Edwin van der Sar had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition.
