Condition of former goalkeeper Ajax and the Dutch national football team Edwina van der Sar stable, but remains in intensive care for the time being, the Amsterdam club said in a statement.
On Friday, it was announced that van der Sar, 52, had been hospitalized with a brain haemorrhage.
Edwin will remain in intensive care for the time being. His condition is stable but remains worrying. Ajax is sharing this information on behalf of Annemarie van der Sar, Edwin’s wife. The van der Sar family and Ajax are grateful and deeply moved by the many messages of support,” said a statement posted on the club’s Twitter page.
Van der Sar stepped down as CEO at the end of May Ajax .
At club level, the goalkeeper also played for Juventus, Fulham, Manchester United, won the Champions League twice. Van der Sar made 130 appearances for the Netherlands national team, winning bronze twice at the European Championships.
