Van der Sar suffers cerebral hemorrhage and is admitted to the ICU

This Friday, 7, Ajax announced that Edwin Van der Sar, historic goalkeeper and current sporting director of the club, suffered a brain hemorrhage and is hospitalized in Croatia.

After suffering a brain hemorrhage, the former player had to be admitted to the ICU. The news of the manager’s medical condition was released by the Dutch club itself, which published a statement explaining the situation.

“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar had a brain haemorrhage. He is currently admitted to the intensive care unit and is in stable condition. As soon as more information is available, an update will be made.” was published by Ajax.

According to the information received by the ‘sky sports‘, the former player was enjoying his vacation with part of his family. Therefore, Van der Sar was in Split, Croatia, when he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was immediately taken to the hospital. From what has been reported, the Ajax manager was taken to an emergency by a helicopter.

As everything is very recent, the former goalkeeper is hospitalized in Croatia, with no plans to travel to Holland or anything like that. The expectation is that in the coming days new updates will be made on Van der Sar’s situation, mainly from Ajax, the club where he continues to hold a current position.

As a player, Edwin Van der Sar had a beautiful story written at Ajax. Defending the club from 1990 to 1999, the goalkeeper played more than 300 games for the Dutch club.
