Shevchenko will not lead the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Winner of the Golden Ball-2004 will not return to coaching yet

Former coach of the Ukrainian national team Andrey Shevchenko will not work with the national team Bosnia and Herzegovina. This was reported to the Radio Sarajevo portal by a source from the local football federation.

Yesterday, journalist Lorenzo Lepore said that Shevchenko is negotiating with the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ukrainian was allegedly one of the potential candidates for the position of head coach of the local team.

Earlier, Faruk Hadzibegich left the post of mentor of Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the candidates for the vacant post of head coach of the national team is a well-known specialist Wahid Khalilhodzic, who worked with the national teams of Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria, Japan and Morocco.

Shevchenko’s last place of work was Genoa. The Ukrainian was fired from the post of head coach of the Italian team in 2022. Since then, the Ukrainian has been out of work.

Prior to Genoa, Shevchenko coached the Ukrainian national team for five years, which, under his leadership, reached the quarterfinals of Euro 2020.

The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is fourth in group J of the selection for the European Championship 2024. In the next match of the qualifying round, the team will play against Liechtenstein on 8 September.
