“During the negotiations to extend my contract, the president of Zenit asked me if I would agree to receive a Russian passport. He explained to me that everyone here loves me, that I have a lot of fans in Russia So I said yes out of gratitude.
They received me and my family very well and I am grateful to them. However, that doesn’t mean I can play for the Russian national team. Obtaining citizenship is associated only with the possibility of making room for another legionnaire in the team. This way, the club will be able to attract another Brazilian player and expand his family,” said Onze Mondial quoting Malcom.
