Ajax and Manchester United legend remains in hospital
Legendary goalkeeper for Manchester United, Ajax and the Netherlands Edwin van der Sar remains in the hospital after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage, but his condition has stabilized.
“Edwin is still in intensive care but his condition is stable. Nothing threatens his life. We need to be patient and see how the situation develops further,” said Annemarie, wife of Edwin van der Sarah.
A 52-year-old Dutch man was admitted to the intensive care unit of a Split hospital last week. In Croatia, the former goalkeeper was on vacation.
In early June, van der Sar stepped down as CEO of Ajax. He has been a member of the leadership of the Dutch Grand since 2012. Edwin started at the club as a marketing director. In 2016, the former goalkeeper became the CEO of Amsterdam.
During his career, van der Sar played for Ajax, Juventus, Fulham, Manchester United and amateur Noordwijk. Edwin has won the Champions League twice, in 1995 with Ajax and in 2008 with the Red Devils.
