The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has opened a disciplinary case due to the behavior of fans during the match of the first qualifying round of the Champions League between the Maltese”Spartans of Hamrun “and Israeli”maccabi of Haifa, according to the organization’s website.
The meeting took place on July 11 in Malta and was interrupted with the score of 2-0 in favor of the guests. Supporters of the Israeli club launched fireworks on the stands where the supporters of the opponent were. The match resumed and ended with the victory of “Maccabi” with the score 4:0.
Both teams were charged with rioting and throwing objects. “Maccabi” is also accused of using pyrotechnics by fans and causing damage.
