The Legion will not play in the next draw of the Ukrainian Hockey Championship. Five clubs have confirmed participation

The national championship may start in September

President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine Georgy Zubko spoke about the preparations for the next draw of the national championship.

According to Zubko, five clubs have already confirmed participation in the new season of the Ukrainian championship. Will miss the upcoming season Legion from Kalush.

“Preparation for the season is much easier than for the last one. We had not three days before the start of the championship, but three months. I can already say that the Kalush Legion will not start in the championship, but there will be other teams,” Zubko said.

“To date, we have confirmation from five participants. We hope that there will be six, and we are negotiating with several teams. We hope that there will be large arenas, like the Palaces of Sports in Kyiv and Odessa, negotiations are ongoing. I hope that more active hockey will be in Vinnitsa. Now the active stage of work, which is not visible, we do not announce it. There will be marketing changes, new names, clubs, arenas. Odessa is now preparing a platform for a team from the neighboring region – Kherson.

“There is no working date for the start of the championship yet. We held a working meeting with the clubs. We determine the leadership of the championship, the regulations. We think we will start in September, but there is no date yet.”

The Legion finished fourth in the regular season and lost to Kremenchuk in the playoff semi-finals.

Kyiv Capitals should become a newcomer to the Ukrainian Hockey Championship. The capital team will be headed by the head coach of the hockey team of Ukraine Vadym Shakhraichuk.

Sokol became the champion of Ukraine in the 2022/23 season. In the final series, the people of Kiev beat Kremenchug.
