Athletistic/Football. 22-year-old Dutch defender Jurrien Timber is leaving Ajax for Arsenal.

The amount of the transfer was 40 million euros, and with possible bonuses it could reach 45 million, said the press service of the Amsterdam club.

The defender made 121 appearances for Ajax, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists. He twice became Dutch champion and once won the Dutch Cup. He also has 15 caps for the national team.

At Arsenal, Timber will wear number 12.

“We are very happy to have Yourrien join us. He is a versatile young defender who will fit perfectly into our system and add quality to our squad,” said Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta.
