Midfielder “Zenith” Wendel is absent from the St. Petersburg club’s bid for the new season of the Russian Premier League (RPL) WORLD, according to the official tournament website.
Earlier in July, ‘bleu-blanc-bleu’ head coach Sergey Semak said that the club’s management allowed the player to look for a new team. At the same time, Semak didn’t rule out the player’s return to Zenit. On Wednesday, the club’s board chairman Alexander Medvedev told that Wendel would return to Saint Petersburg in the near future. Journalist Fabio Aleixo said the footballer was supposed to fly to Russia but was delayed in Brazil due to the death of his grandfather.
Wendel’s contract with the club is valid until the summer of 2027. As part of Zenit, the midfielder became a three-time Russian champion and a two-time winner of the country’s Super Cup.
Saturday will be the OLIMPBET Russian Super Cup match between Zenit and CSKA. The match will take place at the Ak Bars Arena in Kazan. Watch the live broadcast of the match on the and MATCH PREMIER channels, on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru sites. The meeting will start at 5:00 p.m. Moscow time.
