There is not much time left before the scheduled start date of the championships
The UPL and PFL championships should start on July 28. According to the rules of the championships of Ukraine, before the start of each season, the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association approves changes to the regulations of the championships of Ukraine UPL and PFL. Last season, from the UAF Executive Committee, the championship regulations, which are on the website of the Ukrainian Premier League, were signed by the first vice-president of the Ukrainian Football Association Oleg Protasov. Now it seems that the UPL and PFL championships of the 2023/2024 season are in jeopardy. We explain why.
UAF President Andrei Pavelko is still in jail. Yesterday, the secretary general of the Ukrainian Football Association went to the pre-trial detention center. One of the six (!) first vice-presidents of the organization, Alan Pliev, after the publication of information about his possession of a Russian passport, said that he would perform his duties remotely (what this means, no one has yet explained) and disappeared from the information field. The powers of seven members of the UAF Executive Committee have been suspended.
It turns out that out of 46 members of the Executive Committee, 10 either cannot fulfill their duties or do not have the appropriate authority. If we talk about those functionaries whose powers have been suspended, then according to the official website of the UAF, these are: the head of the Kirovohrad OAF Viktor Bessmertny, the head of the Vinnitsa OAF Irek Gataullin, the head of the Kherson OAF Andrey Gordeev, the executive director of the Football Association of Ternopil Vasily Zatorsky, the president of the VFAS Ivan Krulko, the head of the Zhytomyr OAF Ruslan Pavlyuk, deputy head of the Odessa OAF Igor Shukhovtsev.
Plus, one can conditionally add to this list the yet coach of the youth team of Ukraine and the head coach of Oleksandriya Ruslan Rotan, who, of course, will be able to vote, but it seems unlikely that he will attend the meeting in person, given the busyness at the club, as well as Arsenal midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko, who will have pre-season training in full swing.
According to the regulations of the UAF, the Meeting of the Executive Committee has a quorum if it is attended by at least 2/3 of the members and necessarily the president of the UAF or one of the first vice-presidents of the UAF, to whom the president of the organization will give the appropriate permission. With the second, there should not seem to be any problems (the court canceled the removal of Pavelko from his post, although it is interesting to see how it will look. As for the first, there are questions. It turns out that at least 31 people should be present at the meeting of the UAF Executive Committee to approve the regulations Mathematically, everything turns out, how it turns out in practice – it will be interesting to see.
