Athletistic/ Football. Manchester United and Wales legend Ryan Giggs has announced he will no longer coach his country’s national team.
“After careful consideration, I am stepping down as manager of the Wales men’s team. It has been an honor and a privilege to lead my country’s team, but it would be good if the Welsh Football Association, coaching staff and players are preparing for the World Cup with confidence, clarity and no speculation around my head coach’s position I don’t want the preparation of the national team for the World Cup to be affected, destabilized or compromised due to the continued interest in this issue,” Giggs said.
In November 2020, Ryan Giggs was arrested for assaulting a girl and has not been in charge of the team since. In April 2021, the Manchester United legend was charged with assaulting two women. Ryan himself denies his guilt.
In Giggs’ absence, Rob Page took over as caretaker head coach and led Wales to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Welsh have qualified for the World Championship main draw for the first time since 1958.
