Athletistic/ Football. On Saturday, July 15, a new season began in Russian football – 2023/2024. Like the previous ones, it started with a match for the Russian Football Super Cup. This time the fight took place in Kazan. It converged “Zenith” and CSKA. The club from St. Petersburg last season became the champion of Russia, and CSKA won the country’s Cup.
CSKA had quite a few interesting attacks. Already in the 11th minute, the army team could present themselves. Victor Mendez delivered the ball from a corner into the penalty area of ”Zenith”, from where Mukhin, after a successful rebound, struck mid-air – Barrios on the goal line secured Kerzhakov.
Another dangerous moment came in the 33rd minute. There was a long diagonal transfer to the left flank, from where Bakhtiyor Zainutdinov shot into the Zenit penalty area, Dmitry Chistyakov hit the ball at the feet of Fedor Chalov, who through the rebound hit the bar transverse.
In the 43rd minute, CSKA could again take the lead. Zainutdinov executed a superb free kick – Kerzhakov caught the ball in a jump, which flew in the direction of the near nine.
In the 60th minute, the gates of the Zenith were again disrupted. Zainutdinov on the left edge gracefully beat Mantuan and cut a cross into the far corner of the goalkeeper area, from where Milan Gayich hit a throw-in – Kerzhakov moved in and sent the ball back on the post.
As a result, the main time of the match ended in a 0:0 draw. A penalty shootout was appointed, in which Zenit won – 5:4. It was the Saint Petersburg club that won the Russian Super Cup.
CSKA fans reacted to their team’s defeat. They left comments in the official community red-blue in Vkontakte.

– The whole match rolled at the zenith, Ermakov came out and ruined everything! Who else will defend the coach who releases a lousy player?! But we sell Medina, Carrascal and the untouchable Ermakov ruins everything!

Igor again did everything he could. Gayich and Ermakov hit like a kid in general. We are not discouraged, given the problems and the injuries that we played well.

– We played better, it’s doubly insulting. Ermakov should not be heavily covered, the young man was worried. We had to score from the match, so many missed opportunities!

– Embarrassing defeat. We outright dominated Zenit, we didn’t let them create anything and CSKA had good scoring chances, but alas, the implementation let us down.
