Sevastopol and Rubin Yalta played their first matches in FNL-2
Ukrainian Football Association sent to FIFA And UEFA an official letter with a request to respond to the illegal inclusion of clubs from the Ukrainian Crimea – FC Sevastopol And Ruby Yalta – in the championship of Russia.
“We have already appealed to FIFA and UEFA several times about the attempts of the leadership of Russian football to include Ukrainian clubs to participate in Russian domestic championships. We appeal to you again on this issue with a request to consider and take measures to eliminate another violation by Russia of all existing rules and norms.
Despite numerous appeals from the UAF to FIFA and UEFA in this regard, on 07/16/2023 FC Sevastopol and FC Rubin Yalta played their first matches in the Russian second division. We regard such actions as a gross violation of the statutes of FIFA and UEFA and the UEFA decision on the special status of Crimean football. In light of the above, the UAF again appeals to FIFA and UEFA with a request to consider the possibility of expelling the RFU from membership in FIFA and UEFA due to proven non-compliance with the requirements of the statutes of the governing bodies of the world and Europe and the values of the global football family, ”the UAF letter says.
Yesterday, July 16, Sevastopol and Rubin Yalta started in the FNL-2 championship. Rubin played a draw with Biologist (1:1) on the road, and Sevastopol defeated SKA Rostov (3:1) on the “home” field.
Recall, UEFA said that the Crimean clubs do not have the right to play in tournaments under the auspices of the Russian Football Union. The temporarily occupied peninsula of Crimea was given the status of a “special zone” by European officials in 2014.
Early on the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has been going on for the 509th day.
