Fernandez said: “I watched the game with my wife and my son. It’s always difficult to watch the game from the outside, because you want to be on the pitch, in the very center of the action. But I supported Zenit with all my might, wanting them to win – and thank God that’s what happened.”
The 32-year-old Brazilian defender previously played for CSKA where he spent nine seasons. In one of his previous interviews, he said he wouldn’t go to Zenit. However, Fernandez has now signed a contract with the Saint Petersburg club for one season.
