The Pitmen’s mentor complained about poor implementation and lack of teamwork
Head coach Miner Patrick van Leeuwen commented on the test match against ajaxwhich the Pitmen lost with a score of 0:3.
“Today we had a good opponent, which gave us the opportunity to see many things in the right light. We created a few chances at the beginning of the match, we could score first. However, after that, there were problems with the organization, and we missed. According to van Leeuwen, this match gave a lot of information about what aspects need to be improved, what moments are at a good level, and what needs to be strengthened.
“This match showed what exactly we need to improve together in order to ensure a good team game and the realization of all the moments that we create,” said the Dutch specialist.
Poor implementation is one of the main conclusions of the coach, not only in the reporting match, but also in all the sparring that Shakhtar had in the Netherlands. Van Leeuwen admitted that the team creates more chances through the right flank than through the left, and “this is something that needs to be worked on.”
The specialist also shared the peculiarities of the training process: “This week our training was focused on moving forward, creating obstacles for the opponent in his half of the field. When we had the ball, we tried to find space between the lines to go forward through short combinations and create our chances.
In the end, Shakhtar’s coach complained about the uneven schedule for the return of the “collections”, which is why the team gathered gradually and it was hard for them to play.
“I think it’s not ideal to start the camp with a small group, which gradually increases. First, you have to re-explain your ideas in training. Secondly, they need to get into a team rhythm. Almost all three matches were played by different players, different squads,” summed up van Leeuwen.
Recall that Shakhtar lost a lot to Ajax at the training camp, conceding all three goals before the break. Earlier, the Pitmen played a draw with AZ (3:3) and lost to AEK with a score of 0:5. Ahead of the champion of Ukraine is a control match against Utrecht.
