The Argentine striker died in 2019 before making his debut for the Welsh club
Cardiff announced that he had paid in full Nantes striker’s transfer amount Emiliano Sala. The Welsh club has made the second and third installments of payments totaling €17 million, as mandated by FIFA.
At the same time, Cardiff continues to challenge the payments in court. The Welsh are seeking a decision on the responsibility of Nantes for the accident that led to the death of a football player.
Sala, 28, tragically died in 2019. The plane with the Argentinean and pilot David Ibbotson disappeared over the English Channel on January 21, and the football player’s body was found on February 6.
Relatives of the Argentine striker have filed a civil case against 13 accused individuals, including Sala’s former clubs Cardiff and Nantes, as well as football agent Mark McKay.
Sala’s death was preceded by his passage from Nantes to Cardiff. The striker became the most expensive transfer in the history of the Welsh club, but did not have time to make his debut for a new team.
