Cherchesov will only return to the RPL if he doesn’t find an attractive option in Europe, Ignatiev says

Former Head Coachferencvaros » Stanislav Cherchesov after being sacked from the Hungarian club, he wants to continue his career in Europe, the former Russian national team manager tells Boris Ignatiev .

On Wednesday, Ferencváros lost 0:3 against Klaksvik Faroe in the second leg of the Champions League 1st qualifying round at home with a score of 0:3 and were eliminated from the tournament. After the match, the president of the Hungarian club, Gabor Kubatov, had a personal meeting with Cherchesov. It was decided to leave the Russian specialist from the post of head coach.

– I can express my regret, but such is the part of the coach. The result always comes first, most clubs are linked to the Champions League. It is important from a financial point of view. Probably, Ferencvaros and Cherchesov himself expected to go through Klaksvik in order to increase the club’s budget. And also with the aim of exposing their players, selling them and winning. Clubs don’t get money easily.

Cherchesov confirmed that he is a great master of his art. He won two championships in Hungary, worked well with the national team. Now he’s going to take a break, consider options for a future career, and move on. I don’t think the dismissal will have a negative impact on his image. I am convinced that it will not be lost after an unsuccessful match with the Faroese team.

Should Cherchesov seek options in Europe or return to Russia?

He doesn’t care where to go next. Many specialists want to try themselves at the European level, to compare themselves to the best of the best. And Cherchesov is no exception. If he doesn’t find a team he likes in Europe, he will return to the RPL, where many teams will gladly accept him,” Ignatiev told .

Cherchesov has been in charge of Ferencváros since December 2021, during which time the Hungarian club became Hungarian champions twice and the country’s Cup owner once.
