Athletistic/ Football. One of the main Russian coaches is Stanislav Salamovich Cherchesov. Many people remember him for his work in the Russian national football team. Under his leadership, the national team of our country reached the 1/4 finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Then, in the 1/8 finals, the Spanish team was defeated.
In the summer of 2021, after an unsuccessful European Championship, Stanislav Cherchesov left the Russian national team. Over time, he decided to work abroad. In December 2021, the Russian took over the lead from Hungarian Ferencváros. Already at the end of the 2021/2022 season, the Budapest team scored a golden double. Quarters of Stanislav Cherchesov became both the champions of Hungary and the owners of the country’s Cup.
In the 2022/2023 season, Ferencváros received the right to play in European competition. In the first two qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League, the Hungarian team beat Tobol and Slovan respectively. In the third round, Stanislav Cherchesov’s wards lost to Qarabag and thus qualified for the Europa League group stage.
In the second most important European Cup tournament, Ferencvaros managed to take first place in the group, beating Monaco, Red Star and Trabzonspor. Moreover, in the 1/8 finals, the Hungarian club lost to Bayer.
Last season, Stanislav Cherchesov once again led Ferencvaros to the title. The team became Hungarian champions again and received the right to play in the Champions League this season. In the first qualifying round, Cherchesov’s team got “Klaksvik” from the Faroe Islands. The first match ended in a 1:1 draw. But in the home match, which took place on Wednesday, July 19, “Ferencvaros” lost with the score 0:3. After that, Stanislav Cherchesov was fired from the position of head coach of the Budapest team.
Russian football fans have reacted to Cherchesov’s resignation. They left their comments in the official community “TV Match” in Vkontakte.
