Dmitry Cheryshev: ‘Cherchesov’s dismissal is tough’

Santa Coloma Head Coach Dmitry Cherychev told RB Sport he was considering the dismissal Stanislav Cherchesov Since Ferencvaros movement too hard.

On Wednesday, Ferencváros lost 0:3 against Klaksvik Faroe in the second leg of the Champions League 1st qualifying round at home with a score of 0:3 and were eliminated from the tournament. After the match, the president of the Hungarian club, Gabor Kubatov, had a personal meeting with Cherchesov. It was decided to leave the Russian specialist from the post of head coach.

“Of course it’s difficult,” says Cheryshev. – I think Stas deserved to keep working. But anything can happen. Apparently going further was a big goal for the club’s leaders. Everyone is well aware that any promotion to this level is good financial support for the club. This is the decision that was finally made.

– It was said that Ferencváros players almost deliberately leaked Cherchesov. Do you believe in such a conspiracy theory?

– No. Why do football players need such a burden? It turned out that it happened. I don’t think the guys were running away or being against the head coach. For two years they became champions, last year they reached the 1/8 finals of the Europa League. I don’t think that’s true.

Cherchesov has been in charge of Ferencváros since December 2021, during which time the Hungarian club became Hungarian champions twice and the country’s Cup owner once.
