Ronaldo Fenômeno’s team chose to make a drastic change in its shield and ended up not pleasing some of its fans; check the result!
This Monday, the 20th, the Real ValladolidSpanish club Ronaldo Phenomenon, completes 94 years of existence and chose to celebrate by promoting the club’s new and refurbished badge. Through their social media, the team presented a new badge completely different from the previous one and very minimalist, stating that it would be “the reflection of a new era”.
Valladolid revealed that it took three years of studies and research, together with the consultancy ‘FutureBrand’, a specialist in rebranding, for the change to be officially defined. The club says that “team members, historians and partners” were consulted to “hear their views on the past and future”.
CHANNEL – ATHLETISTIC:
The new design leaves out several details of the old one, such as the four swords and the branches of San Fernando, in addition to simplifying the flames on the upper left, as well as the crown that is on top. The club also said that “historical documents, photographic records and materials related to the past were analyzed” to “project the identity to the future”.
FANS’ REACTION
However, the new shield was not well received by the internet. Fans, journalists and even Spanish politicians showed their discontent with the new emblem, showing themselves against the excess of minimalism used.
“It seems to me a disgrace what was done with the Real Valladolid shield. Who voted and approved it? Do they only listen to the partners when it comes to cashing in?”questioned José San José, a former councilor for the mayor of Valladolid.
“One of Spain’s most historic shields has been radically changed, without consulting its social mass. Nowadays, it is fashionable to replace classic shields (and Valladolid’s was one of the prettiest) with things that look like logos. Nonsense.”complained one.

The new shield is on the historic first line but it is more feo and lacking in personality, losing the previous one is a step back in the history of the Club, honestly, I don’t like it. Bad.
Pd, in the 70/80’s, we had a very similar one circulating, aún tengo alguno. pic.twitter.com/aXkkkbdUqq— Miguel Pinciano 🌾 ♜&🦁 (@MiguelPinciano) June 20, 2022
