Head coach Panathinaikos Jovanovic: Dnipro-1 is a very good, balanced team. Tomorrow we will have a strong fight

Tomorrow the Greek team will play with the vice-champion of Ukraine in the Champions League qualification

Head coach Panathinaikos Ivan Jovanovic spoke about the preparation of the team for the upcoming match with Dnepr-1 in the second qualifying round Champions League.

“For six weeks of fruitful work, we managed to do a lot. We worked very hard, like Dnepr-1, we also had exclusively friendly matches in which we practiced and developed connections on the field. Tomorrow there will be an important game between two strong teams and it will be a completely different level,” Jovanovic said.

“It is difficult to foresee anything and say what exactly will be on the field, but tomorrow you will see everything. We prepared well and this preparation satisfied me. Tomorrow we will see what will come out of our developments on the field and what we will apply. In addition, I will say that we have not one, but two games ahead of us, from which we should benefit more. There is still a match in Greece ahead and after two games we should go further in the Champions League qualifying.”

“We watched the matches of Dnipro-1 in two tournaments. We watched the matches against Apollon and AEK from Larnaca. We watched how the opponent tried to win the championship in Ukraine, but, unfortunately, failed to do so. I think both teams know each other very well. Dnepr-1 is a very good, balanced team, which has a good organization and tomorrow we will have a strong fight.”

“I think we managed to sign very good players. Of course, they have a different level of preparation for the season, but, in my opinion, Panathinaikos is the team that will move forward step by step and progress. We still have a long way to go.”

The first duel between Dnipro-1 and Panathinaikos will take place on July 25 in Kosice, Slovakia. The meeting starts at 21:00 Kyiv time.

The return match of Dnipro-1 and Panathinaikos will take place on August 1 in Athens. The match starts at 21:30 Kyiv time. The fights will be broadcast by the UNIAN TV channel and the Youtube channel FootballHub.

The winner of the pair Dnipro-1 – Panathinaikos will play with Marseille in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. The losing team will face Slavia Prague in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
