The Court of Arbitration for Sport sided with the Spanish club and forced UEFA to allow the team into the Conference League.
Osasuna will still play in European competition 2023/24. We remind you, UEFA previously removed the Spanish club from participation due to the suspicion of a fixed match with Betis in the 2013/2014 season.
The club disagreed with the accusations and filed an appeal with UEFA, but lost. And now they have proved their case in the highest instance.
According to the Pamplonians’ official website, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which considered the case, ruled in favor of the club. According to Themis’ decision, Osasuna “became the victim of events that took place almost ten years ago.”
Thus, the Spanish club will play in European competition for the first time in 16 years. The team must play in the Conference League. Note that earlier UEFA has already found a replacement for Osasuna. The organization is ready to allow Athletic from Bilbao to compete.
It will be remembered that Dynamo’s opponent in the selection of the Conference League was previously determined.
