After winning the Spanish Championship title with the club in 2021, the player had his contract ending this year and revealed that he received contact from Corinthians.
Even though he was on vacation, the defender took some time to clear up some doubts from fans who saw some movement in the market for an interest in his football. In an interview with “GE”, the player clarified his situation at the Spanish club, as his contract officially runs until June 30 this year.

“Ever since I came here for the holidays, I’ve been focused. First, my vacation here, but we had already talked about the renovation, it was already well under way, everything was going very well. And today I am an Atletico player. I will come back. I have my back, the date is already set, the training, everything. So I have my back right. I’ll keep on“, said the player.
Even so, the player revealed that the imminent end of his relationship with Atlético brought several clubs interested in his football, including Corinthians, which was the first team to seek him out. However, despite the affection he has for Timão, the defender revealed that he still has no interest in returning to Brazilian football, but when he returns, he will give preference to the team.
“I think (Corinthians) was the first, actually, because I still have a connection with them, I have contact, I have friends. They made me feel very comfortable. And of course they asked for preference. As I played in the club that gave me everything, I have a pretty cool story, if that’s the preference, for sure“, said.
