Ukrainian youth team will play in the playoffs for access to Euro 2023 in September
Head coach of the youth team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan intends to agree on holding a home match with Slovakia in the playoffs for reaching Euro 2023 in Poland.
The playoffs will take place on September 19th and 27th. The first fight will take place in Slovakia.
“What does Euro 2023 mean for me? We need to understand the situation in our country. We are at war. These victories and getting to the Euro are, first of all, for the country. This victory is needed for the image on all fronts – both for the fighters at the front and for the athletes, ”explained Rotan.
“I talked to the management so that we would prepare and play in Poland. There are many migrants there, and they will definitely support us. We will ask that the match be played in Poland.”
Ukraine advanced to the playoffs, taking second place in qualifying group H. In the fight for first place, Ruslan Rotan’s team lost to France by three points.
The final tournament of Euro 2023 will be held in June-July next year in Romania and Georgia. The current European Youth Champion is Germany.
