The head coach of the Kyiv club shared his expectations from the start of his team in European competitions.

Mircea Lucescu expects a tough match between Dynamo and Aris in the Conference League qualifier. According to the head coach of the Kyiv club, his wards have a long and difficult journey to Greece, and therefore the main thing now is the renewal of players.

Also at the pre-match press conference, the specialist mentioned the fans of the Greek club.

“I am very familiar with Greek football. I came to your country both as a player and as a coach. I understand that tomorrow there will be an incredible atmosphere, the fans will be hot, because they are great in supporting to their players, but everyone will decide on the field.

Aris has a good team, experienced performers, whose average age is 28-29 years old. They managed to create the strongest competitive team. We have foreign players who came because of the war, and we also cannot invite players from the Ukrainian championship, so we rely on the students of our own Academy. In terms of the number of students, we are among the best clubs in Europe. This is good, but on the other hand, our players do not have enough experience to play at a high level.

– In the last two matches, you were unhappy with the actions of the goalkeeper and defenders in your own goal. What are your expectations for tomorrow’s game?

– I just want them not to make mistakes (smiles). But a completely different contest awaits us. For example, our defense played very well against Al-Hilal, we won the match – 1:0. I think if we play 0-0 tomorrow, it will be a good result for us.

– The confrontation in the future is likely especially for you, because your son Razvan has recently worked in Greece. did you talk to him

– There is no need for it. I have enough experience not to contact him about such things, and he is an experienced coach, so we don’t talk about those things. We are professional coaches and what we see with our own eyes is enough for us.

– What can you say about Aris? What strengths do you see in your opponent?

– I will answer you tomorrow after the match.

– For which of the opponents – Dynamo or Arisa – is it more important to advance to the next round? We all understand that Dynamo is an experienced fighter of the European Cup, with many successes in the international arena…

– It’s not the same team as before. We play football in war conditions, and it is very different from what it is in civilian life. Sergey Sidorchuk is sitting here, and he can confirm that we spent 13 hours on the train to Chernivtsi, 4 hours on the bus to Suceava, and then flew another 2.5 hours to Thessaloniki. What do you think, in what condition are the players after such a road?

It was the same last season. We played in Krakow, returned to Ukraine for domestic championship matches, then went to Krakow again, spent nine hours twice a week on the bus. Today we decided to play in Bucharest, because it is easier to get there, and in the championship we will play home matches in Odessa.

So there is no way we can compare the previous years with the present time. But hopefully we can give the opponent a fight and show a good game in tomorrow’s match.

– How will the hot weather affect your team?

– It will affect both teams and it will be difficult for everyone.

– Do you agree that Aris players will play more relaxed in tomorrow’s match?

– Aris will play at home, he will be more confident in his abilities, and we must structure our game in such a way as to try to win. This is a normal situation for our team, because Dynamo is a brand, and in every match we have to fight for the maximum result. At the same time, we understand that most of the time we have to defend ourselves, so we have to use the opportunities we have at the doors of others with maximum efficiency. We don’t have 20 of them, but we will do our best to win tomorrow. Aris will also do everything to win.

I am sure that many Greek fans will also come to Bucharest for the rematch, so we need the support of our fans, both Ukrainians and Romanians,” Dynamo’s website quoted Lucescu as saying.

It will be remembered that the Aris-Dynamo game will be held on Thursday, August 10. The starting whistle will sound at 21:15 Kyiv time.
