Shakhtar Director of Football on Mudrik’s transfer to Chelsea
Donetsk Shakhtar football director Dario Srna said what he said Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov after sale Mikhail Mudrik in Chelsea for a record amount for Ukrainian football.
“He said he sold cheap. I answer, if there had been no war, the president would never have sold it for 100 million. The President wanted to win the Champions League with this team that we had. It was a dream.”
“It would be hard to win the tournament, but a quarter-final or a semi-final with that team, with Roberto De Zerbi, I would be sure. We would expect great results,” Srna said in an interview with Roman Bebech for Bombardir’s YouTube channel.
Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar in January and signed an eight and a half year contract. Transfer payments to the Pitmen will amount to 70 million euros in a guaranteed amount and 30 million in bonuses. The winger made 17 official appearances for the Blues in all competitions last season, providing two assists. In the 2022/23 season, Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League and did not qualify for European competition.
