The UAF turned to European officials about the embarrassing inscription on the stands.
The Ukrainian Football Association ignored the scandal in the match between Aris and Dynamo in the Conference League qualification. Recall that then the Greek fans placed on their podium a banner with insults against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The UAF sent a letter to UEFA and the Hellenic Football Federation with a request to respond to the episode and punish those responsible for spreading Russian narratives.
“We assume that the banner was made by local ultras in contact with Russian fan movements, because the message on the banner fully corresponds to the messages of Russian propaganda. The said banner was removed from the stands for about 10 minutes. However, The fact of this incident worries us a lot, because it is dangerously a sign of a deep misunderstanding of the tragic events in Ukraine, as well as an example of the propaganda of violence in competitive matches under the auspices of UEFA, which is unacceptable for a football family.
The defenders of Azovstal, also known as the Azov division of the Ukrainian army, have no connection with the Nazis, nor anyone in Ukrainian society, but this is the narrative of Russian propaganda that is spreading around the world,” the letter said.
